Hotel horror stories you won't believe

Live mouse siwmming in toilet
Indonesia
"This hotel is a mess. We stayed in room 1132. We could hear everything in the hallway and it was really annoying. Just like the walls were made of paper.
The breakfast was horrible: For example, the bacon did not taste like bacon, the scrambled eggs were like watered down eggs, the yoghurt at the buffet was warm as they did not chill it properly, the other buffet items were marginal at best. The coffee was the worst. They serve you in those coffee presses which looks nice but makes lousy coffee. The breakfast area was very hot because they did not have enough celieng fans for the size of room.
There was no pool side drinks service even though they give you a menu...no one came to offer drinks while you are sun bathing.
The lobby of the hotel is hot as hell...literally. They do not have any cooling system in the lobby or the hotel bar...no fans...nothing. I know it is Bali, but you would think there would be an area where you can relax and excape the heat...not so at this hotel!
Then the worst was we returned back to our room one evening to find a live mouse swimming in our toilet. The hotel staff acted like it was a normal occurrence. They did not even bother to offer so much as an apology. I had to call them twice to send a maid to clean our toilet after hotel staff removed the mouse from the toilet bowl.
We will never stay at this hotel again, and we recommend that you avoid it at all cost if you want to enjoy your vacation!"

Book two, get one...

"Have you ever been thrown own from your own hotel room without a single warning? If not, go to *. We booked a suite together with 2 friends for two nights on the phone. After the first night and a poor and ridiculously unprofessional breakfast we left the hotel at noon. When we got back at 8 PM to the hotel, our shuttle driver told us, that our room is already given two soem other guests. He was a nice guy so we thought he was just joking to make the short ride more enjoyable for us. But when we got to the hotel, it all turned to be true. They said we just booked for one night, WE haven't checked out in time so they had no other choice but to collect all our stuff on a plastic tray what was covered with a bedsheet plus in our bags and put everything out to the sauna. OUR PERSONAL BELONGINGS put completely mixed together in piles, jewellry, contact lenses, pilles, books, make-up kit, sandwiches all on top of each other and this all at 10 PM without any further information. The manager showed up in an hour, tried to put the blame on us and was not even saying sorry. The most unprofessional service ever, the most rude manner ever, the worth experience ever. We finally did not have to pay for the accomodation, but we were put into a hotel at the other end of Rovinj (arrival at midnight afrter a long and unfriendly debate) where we were forced to pay a full rate the other day which was even more expensive than *.
We will make a diplomatic issue out of the case (3 hungarians and one british), we all will inform the Hungarian and British embassy to warn their citizens not to enter the hotel if they want a relaxed holiday in Rovinj. The shame on the management of * to hire such emloyees, hopefully they learn from this case a lot and will restructure their human resources policy soon."

worst hotel ever

"me and my boyfriend stayed at the pink palace in july last year and it was absolutly terrible. when we arrived we were put in a basement room which consisted of two single beds, despite the fact we had booked a double. we asked to be moved, and were moved that evening to ANOTHER basement room, which did have a double bed, but was literally dark all day because the only natural light came from a tiny slit window which was at ground level, and you couldnt leave it open because bugs and spiders came in! the toilet and the shower were literally centremeters away from each other and i can honestly say they were disgustingly dirty. i dont think our room was cleaned once.
we continusly asked to be moved from the basement to a room with a balcony through out our week long trip and were eventually moved on the night before we came home. which was utterly useless, and even that room was dirty and very badly in need of refurbishment. another family we talked to had had the same problem, and had asked to be moved onto another floor, which took them days to sort out. despite the hotel hardly being busy.
the food was ABSOLUTLY disgusting, the same thing was offered every day, and was left out from breakfast to dinner to lunch, crawling with wasps and sometimes even birds! the standard of hygiene was just ridiculous. they literally left the breakfast food out until 9 at night.we ended up eating out a few nights because we actually couldnt face the food another evening!
the 'all inclusive drinks' were limited to half a pint at a time, and stoppped serving around 11 to half 11, and the everning entertainment was non existant.
the hotel offers a 'free' bus down to the beach. DO NOT GET IT! it takes you to a private beach owned by a sister company of the hotel, where you have to pay to get on the beach, and pay for sunbeds drinks etc. the beach was veryvery dirty. the actual beach is a lot nicer, but you will have to pay for a taxi/bus down. and the bus driver refused to take us back to it, even though he was going back to the hotel, sowe walked in the baking heat for 20 minutes just the get back to the place we wanted to go in the first place!
over all the hotel was dirty, the staff were quite bad mannered and not at all willing to help. my boyfriend did NOT get a cheap deal on this holiday, and we were completly and utterly ripped off
i wouldnt reccomend anyone go there ever!"

Not worth the money, and not as advertised
Elizabeth City, NC
"I booked an "oceanview" room, only to find out that the hotel is between a highway and a major road. Oceanview is like saying the room faces Europe -- it is out there somewhere. I had expected ocean breezes going through my room. But the hotel is -- according to the front desk clerk -- "set back 500 feet" from the ocean. This means behind another hotel & across several streets. The clerk was really quite rude about it. The address is incorrect, in terms of accessing it. You enter the hotel from the main highway on the island.
The bath/furnishings are not top quality, but they try to make up for that with top notch toiletries. The breakfast is nothing special.
Overall, I went away feeling that this place was not worth the expense."

Total Nightmare
Ireland
"We stayed in * in October 07 and it was a total nightmare. I have stayed in some bad places in my time but never so bad that i felt the need to write a review!
First off, our room was directly above the bar (i do understand that its a busy pub) the noise was deafening, we had to shout at each while we were in the room. This went on until about 2am, after that, the people in the next room spent the whole night shouting and slamming doors until 7am.
Our room was really basic, the bed was really uncomfortable and the room was freezing cold.
We were woken at 10.55am by the cleaner literally banging our door down to tell us it was time to leave, this was after we had less than 4 hours sleep because of all the noise. I couldnt use the shower as only a trickle of water would come out and the water in the sink was scalding hot.
I could have put up with all this, had we not have been charged €130 for the night. This is a complete rip off. There is a hotel literally 50 yards down to the street and we could have stayed there for €120.
This B&B is in a great location and it would be ok if it charged B&B prices but that isnt the case. Never again."

Total Nightmare!
Panama
"Where to start....
Since the minute we've got there, it was a total dissapointment, the place is not a hotel, its just a very unplanned house and they just improvised everything!
From the street, it has no visible sign so we had a very hard time finding it, even when our taxi driver was a local Panamenian! fortunaly he had a cell phone so he had to make a couple of calls to locate the place.
The street where is located is extremely noisy!! thank God I took my ear plugs with me, otherwise I just couldnt sleep at all!!! you hear the cars honking all day and all night long !! its crazy!!
There was a missing shade in one of the windows so the light was so bright inside the room since the first ray of sun!!
There wasn't any electric plugs inside the bathroom area so there was no way for me to get infront of the mirror while I use my hair iron
I asked for extra pillows, they didn't have any.
I asked for extra towels, they didn't have any.
I asked for an iron press, they didnt have ( I had to wear my clothes all wrinkled everyday of my stay)
I asked for a hair dryer, they didnt have.
I asked for an open line to make a call to a cell phone, they just couldn't.
I asked for water for God's sake!!! and they didnt have drinking water!!!! they fill you a little jar when you check in, and thats it!!! and of course I got thirsty at midnight and the neareast store was like 1 km away!!, they just said that the water was locked in the dining area and the maids were the only ones with the keys to open it, so I had to wait till morning!!
They had no Fax machine, no printer, the breakfast was terrible, oh my gosh, the list never ends!!
The girl at the reception was completely unhelpful!!! whatever I asked for, the answear was NO I can't, NO I don't know, NO I don't have... man!! I couldn't wait to get out of there!!!
Even when the pictures at their website looks chick and nice but its nothing like that, I suffered my stay in this so called "hotel""

believe the reviews!
New York City
"I too was scared by the bad reviews, but I saw the ones saying they were and it was unfounded and thought lets go for it. DONT! It's dreadful! Cramped, chilly rooms, rude staff, noisy at night."

Conclusion: Be very careful when you choose a hotel for your trip!
Conclusion: Soyez tres prudent en choisissant l'hotel pour vos vacances!
